The Life Centred Accountant

Meet Marelize Bott

Having worked in finance since 1989, I understand the technical side of numbers, but my deepest understanding comes from building and rebuilding a business myself.

In 2017, I immigrated to the UK with two suitcases and the decision to start life again from scratch. While working full-time, I completed my AAT qualification in record time, driven by a desire to rebuild a career and create something meaningful.

After three years working within a small UK accounting firm, I founded Add-Worth Accountancy in 2020.

The Entrepreneurial Turning Point

As the business grew and supported hundreds of clients through compliance work, I found myself facing the same reality many business owners experience.

Growth did not automatically create clarity.

The business was busy, but the deeper questions remained.

I began to see the same pattern in my clients.

Many were working harder every year yet still felt uncertain, pressured and disconnected from why they started their business in the first place.

The numbers were completed, but not truly understood.

That realisation changed how I approach accounting.

A Life Centred Approach to Accounting

Today I work using a life-centred approach to accounting, where the person behind the business comes first and the numbers are used to create clarity, steadiness and confident decision-making.

We focus on three types of numbers:

Profit, cashflow, pricing, margins and financial structure, giving clarity on how money moves through your business and what it truly needs to deliver.

Money in the bank that restores predictability, reduces panic and allows confident planning.

Working hours, stress levels, decision confidence, energy, and your connection to the business, including whether it still feels aligned with the life you want to build.

Because growth does not begin with spreadsheets.

It begins with steadiness.

What This Means For Clients Today

Today I work with a carefully limited number of service-based business owners who want more than compliance.

Together we slow things down, stabilise the foundations, remove fear from the numbers and create clarity that supports calm, confident decisions.

The goal is not constant hustle.

It is meaningful progress and a business that supports your life rather than consuming it.

The Missing Piece Many Business Owners Experience

Many business owners do not struggle because they lack intelligence or ambition.

They struggle because no one has helped them connect their numbers with real-life decisions.

When financial clarity improves:

  • decisions become easier
  • pressure reduces
  • confidence grows
  • and the business begins to feel lighter again.
